Boilers, Pressure Vessels, and Operating Engineers

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is committed to enhancing public safety through transparent, inclusive, and collaborative engagement. This page provides information on how the public, industry stakeholders, and regulated parties can participate in shaping the safety and regulatory oversight of boilers, pressure vessels, and operating engineers across Ontario. TSSA’s Boilers and Pressure Vessels Safety Program regulates the design, construction, maintenance, operation, and repair of pressure-retaining components used in Ontario. It also oversees the certification of professionals and organizations involved in the safe operation of this equipment. Operating engineers are licensed to ensure the safe management of high-risk pressure systems in facilities such as power plants, hospitals, and industrial sites.
